The Birth of Greymon

Quick Summary (From Wikipedia)
A school of fish catch the falling Chosen Children and their Digimon, and swim them to safety as Kuwagamon falls into the river as well. The group are taken to shore and attempt to determine their location and how to return home.

What I Remember from this Episode
I think this it the one where the Digidestined are on a beach and think of ways to go back home, until an evil Digimon attacks them and Agumon has to digivolve.

The Good

  • The suspense from the previous episode's cliffhanger is still on! :) Now matter how hard they try, the Digimon can't save their new friends from falling!
  • Our first look into how decisions are made within the group. Tai assumes leadership and Matt and Joe disagree with him is very important throughout the series.
  • Shellmon attacks the Digidestened, leading to the first digivolution - Agumon to Greymon.

The Bad

  • After surviving the cliff fall, it seems like nothing happens in this episode, as half the episode is spent on a beach.

Funny Quotes

  • Phone Operator: "This number only exists in your imagination. Please hang up and don't call back."
  • Sora: "I guess we can barbecue some telephone."

Annoying Character(s) In This Episode
Joe! While I can understand the poor guy's reactions to being chased by a Kuwagamon and being in a strange world, Joe somehow manages to find ways to complain about everything and anything!

Useless Digimon
Patamon and Biyomon, both of whom can't fly and keep up with the rest of the group.Like, really?

Useful Digimon
Gomamon and errhhh... Agumon/Greymon. Both saved the group from danger by either making a fish boat or by getting rid of Shellmon.

Wait A Minute...
If the Digimon live in this world, then shouldn't they be more knowledgeable about which way to go to find help or food?

The Cliffhanger
There is no cliffhanger, as the Digidestined decide to keep traveling to find a way home.

Conclusion
The momentum from the previous episode caries on to this one. We are also introduced to some of the things that will be prominent throughout the rest of the series (how the guys make decisions, more information about Digivolving, etc.).

And So It Begins...

Quick Summary (From Wikipedia)
Mysterious climate changes occur around the world, including a blizzard that falls overnight in July at a summer camp in Japan. Seven children at the camp—Tai, Sora, Matt, Izzy, Mimi, T.K., and Joe—are each given a Digivice that falls from an aurora in the sky, and are all swept off by a wave into the Digital World. They are promptly greeted by seven creatures who call themselves Digimon, as well as the children's chosen partners.

What I Remember from this Episode
It's the first episode so I remember that the Digidestined are at a Summer Camp when it suddenly begins to snow. Eventually they are transported to the Digital World and they meet their Digimon partners.

The Good

  • We get an engaging introduction, showing the world in distress: droughts, floods, snow in the summer!
  • Getting to see the Digimon digivolve! They're stronger and are able to burn Kuwagamon!

The Bad

  • After already introducing the viewer to each of the characters at the beginning, we're forced into hearing each character's name and a little about them... AGAIN! Not only the human characters, but the Digimon characters as well!
  • Kuwagamon keeps coming back... Time after time! By his last appearance, his roar/cry has me annoyed! >_<

Funny Quotes

  • "It looks like a radish," Tai when describing Yokomon.
The Cliffhanger
  • Kuwagamon breaks off the part of the cliff where the Digidestined are standing, sending then falling down! Oh no!

Conclusion
A solid start to the series. Despite the annoyance of the introductions and a certain Digimon, this episode is engaging enough to make you watch the next episode. :)

Remembering the Digital World!

Well hello!

Welcome to my new Digimon blog, where I hope to post reviews on every episode of the Digimon series. I know there's probably a ton of other review sites but oh well.

To start off, I would like to say that I became a Digimon fan when I was very, very, very young. Kindergarten to be exact, when the first episode I ever saw was the one where Myotismon attacks Lillymon. I didn't really understand what was going on but it was a cartoon so I continued to watch every day until I became a fan.

I watched all of season one, two and part of three. But eventually they stopped showing repeats of each and I forgot what happened. I had very few options in terms of watching Digimon. I only owned five VHS tapes of the series: The Digidestined Child, Battle with Piedmon, Revenge of the Digital World, Digimon The Movie, and another tape whose name I forgot (all I remember is that it has the episode where they get tricked by Devimon in that mansion house).

Luckily, the show was re-released on DVD in 2012 and ta-da! Here we are today! I have seasons one and two on DVD so I can do reviews on those.

I'm busy with school but will commit to at least one post a week (which is one episode a week!)

So relax and get ready to re-re-explore the Digimon world!! :)
